Grammar:

Вживання:

Зворот There is / are використовується для того, щоб сказати, що щось десь знаходиться.

Важливо! Речення із зворотом There is / are починає перекладатися з кінця, з обставини місця. Якщо обставини місця немає, то тоді починаємо переклад зі слів «є», «існує» або взагалі не перекладаємо слова There is / are.

There are 12 months in a year. – У році 12 місяців

There are 12 months. – Є (існує) 12 місяців.

 

Утворення:

Умовно речення із зворотом There is / are складається з трьох частин:

 

1) сам зворот      +      2) предмет або предмети      +      3) його або їхнє місце

 

There is вживається, якщо предмет, про який ми говоримо, один.

There are вживається, коли мова йде про декілька предметів.
