У минулому часі
дієслово to be (бути) має лише дві форми: was (воз) (був,
була, було) і were (вьо) (були). На відміну від теперішнього часу,
де ми маємо три форми to be: am (є), is (є), are (є).
Was вживається, якщо підмет стоїть в однині, тобто з I (я), he (він), she (вона), it (він, вона,
воно).
Were вживається, якщо підмет стоїть у множині, тобто з we (ми),
you (ти, ви), they (вони).
Порівняйте вживання форм
дієслова to be у теперішньому та минулому часах.
